music and me!

Hi, my name is CJ McBride, I was homeschooled from 3rd grade and graduated as a homeschooled student athlete. I love doing art such as painting, drawing and diamond art! I am the middle child of 3 sisters, and I have a dog named Kookie and 2 cats named Felix and Bruno. While I am here, I plan on majoring in psychology. Specifically, I want to work with athletes and help them with their mental game and teach them how to be mentally tough.  I have a passion for the mental side of sports, and I want to help every athlete realize that they are more than just a tennis player or a soccer player, I want them to know that they are brother and sister, sons, and daughters. Everything about psychology interests me.  I am originally from Florida but moved to Georgia when I was 13 years old. I am playing softball for the Converse softball team, and I have played softball since I was 11 years old!

1. My current go to song

I spent my summer traveling around the country with my softball team and when we were driving to our games, we started playing random songs until we came across this song called "sunroof" by Nicky Youre, dazy. After the first day we had heard it, we kept playing it before all our games until we could not shout it anymore. I do not know what was in that song, but it always put our team in the best mood and made it incredibly fun to be around each other. This song has the greatest memories! After that it became a song that I really enjoy listening to!

2. A song that meaningful to me

This song has a very significant meaning behind it, I have played softball since I was 11 and I started travel softball when I was 12 and at that time, we had walk up songs. Honestly, I was not really on board with the whole walk-up song thing because I thought it was dumb and I did not want to send a song in. However, my mom told me to just send one in, so I did. It was Smile by R5. I remember the first time I was very shy and did not want to go up to bat, but as the season went on i got more comfortable and started having so much fun and i could not stop smiling! I truly loved what i was doing and eventually came the nickname “Smiles” every travel season after that my nickname was smiles, and it kind of just stuck with me throughout high school!

                                              3. A song that I do not connect with

I listened to this song with my friend in her car as we were on the way to the store and truly, I was trying to like it, but I just could not get into it. For me, I did not like how the tempo was; it was too in your face from the very beginning. I actually love some of his other songs, but this one felt kind of overwhelming
